Concrete Leveling

Concrete leveling is the process of restoring a sunken or uneven concrete slab to an even surface, most commonly by injecting polyurethane foam beneath it to raise the low sections back into line.

In depth

Concrete leveling addresses slabs that have dropped or tilted because of soil erosion, poor compaction, expansive soils, or tree-root movement. Foam is injected under the low areas, filling voids and lifting the surface until adjacent sections align and trip hazards disappear. Unlike replacement, leveling keeps the existing concrete and is far faster and cheaper.

In the Chicago area, polyurethane leveling projects typically start around $600, with driveways and patios often in the $750 to $1,500 range depending on the size of the void and the amount of lift needed. Interior slabs can cost more because sinking is often tied to water or sewer line breaks that create large voids.

How Acme applies it. Acme levels sidewalks, driveways, patios, pool decks, porches, steps, and interior floors throughout Northern Illinois, and provides free inspections and estimates.

Frequently asked questions

How much does concrete leveling cost?

In the Chicago area it generally starts around $600; driveways and patios are commonly $750 to $1,500. Final cost depends on slab size, the depth of the drop, and how large the void beneath the slab is.

Is leveling cheaper than replacing concrete?

Almost always. Leveling reuses the existing slab and is completed in hours, so it typically costs a fraction of tear-out and replacement.
